PROJECT REFERENCE - Financial Company Compensation Payroll Application

The Client

Financial Company maintains and controls the payroll responsibilities of 30,000+ different agreements between Financial Consultants and Financial Company. The resulting net cash flow totals more than $22 Million per month in processed paychecks between Financial Consultants and their associates.

What They Wanted

Replace existing mainframe payroll application used to create and administer agreements. The application goals were very specific:

  • Must maintain four different levels of user security.
  • Connect 50+ different database tables in three different database regions.
  • Easy to use, self-explanatory application requiring very little user-training.
  • Accessibility for all authorized individuals throughout Financial Company.
  • Self-regulation utilizing batch processing corrections and error handling flags to prevent data integrity errors and maintain referential integrity.
  • Terminology, design and content consistent with Financial Company standards
  • Between screen processing times less then 10 seconds
  • Helpful and meaningful plain English error messages.
  • Data collection processes allow for historical tracking of events
  • Security maintained throughout site restricting transactions within user's authority level.

  • Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) using COBOL for all database queries

What Happens Next?

The project was completed successfully. Both Qwest Internet Solutions and Financial Company were quite pleased with the results.
